BACKGROUND: Balance is crucial for physical development in preschool children. Exploring the relationship between different types of balance can help understand early physical development in children. Currently, research is mostly focused on the relationship between different types of balance in the adult population and lacks exploration of the preschool population. The aim of this study explored the relationship between static and dynamic balance in preschool children aged 4 to 5 years. METHODS: A total of 128 preschool children between the ages of 4 to 5 years were selected. The following tests were conducted as they wore inertial sensors detecting their centers of mass (COM): T1, standing with eyes open; T2, standing with eyes closed; T3, standing with eyes open on foam; T4, standing with eyes closed on foam; and T5, walking on the balance beam. Static balance was measured by the angular velocity modulus (ω-T1-ω-T4) of the shaking COM, as well as the pitch angle (θ-T1-θ-T4) and roll angle (φ-T1-φ-T4) indicators in T1-T4 testing. Dynamic balance was measured by the time (t) and angular velocity modulus (ω-T5), as well as the pitch angle (θ-T5) and roll angle (φ-T5) indicators in the T5 test. The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used to test the correlation between static and dynamic balance indicators. RESULTS: There is no correlation between ω-T1-ω-T4 and t (P > 0.05), while ω-T1-ω-T4 and ω-T5 (r = 0.19-0.27, P < 0.05) and ω-T1-ω-T4 and θ-T5, φ-T5 (r = 0.18-0.33, P < 0.05) were weakly correlated. There is no correlation between θ-T1-θ-T4, φ-T1-φ-T4 and t (P > 0.05), while θ-T1-θ-T4, φ-T1-φ-T4, and θ-T5, φ-T5 were weakly correlated (r = 0.01-0.28, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The relationship between static and dynamic balance in preschool children aged 4-5 years is weak. Static and dynamic balance in children needs to be intervened separately for the development of children.

The development of intelligent education has led to the emergence of knowledge tracing as a fundamental task in the learning process. Traditionally, the knowledge state of each student has been determined by assessing their performance in previous learning activities. In recent years, Deep Learning approaches have shown promising results in capturing complex representations of human learning activities. However, the interpretability of these models is often compromised due to the end-to-end training strategy they employ. To address this challenge, we draw inspiration from advancements in graph neural networks and propose a novel model called GELT (Graph Embeddings based Lite-Transformer). The purpose of this model is to uncover and understand the relationships between skills and questions. Additionally, we introduce an energy-saving attention mechanism for predicting knowledge states that is both simple and effective. This approach maintains high prediction accuracy while significantly reducing computational costs compared to conventional attention mechanisms. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed model compared to other state-of-the-art baselines on three publicly available real-world datasets for knowledge tracking.

Bifidobacterium longum (B. longum) is a beneficial anaerobic bacteria that may improve cardiovascular disease (CVD). We studied B. longum L556, isolated from healthy human feces, in coronary heart disease (CHD) patients through anaerobic fermentation in vitro. Results showed that B. longum L556 increased Lactobacillus, Faecalibacterium, Prevotella, and Alistipes, while reducing Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes, Eggerthella, Veillonella, Holdemanella, and Erysipelotrichaceae_UCG-003 in the gut microbiota of CHD patients. B. longum L556 also enhanced anti-inflammatory effects by modulating gut microbiota and metabolites like SCFAs. Additionally, it regulated lipid and amino acid metabolism in fermentation metabolites from the CHD group. These findings suggest that B. longum L556 has potential for improving CHD by modulating the intestinal microbiota, promoting SCFA production, and regulating lipid metabolism and inflammation.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to determine whether inhibition of mitophagy affects seizures through Clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME). METHODS: Pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) was intraperitoneally injected daily to establish a chronic PTZ-kindled seizure. The Western blot (WB) was used to compare the differences in Parkin protein expression between the epilepsy group and the control group. Immunofluorescence was used to detect the expression of MitoTracker and LysoTracker. Transferrin-Alexa488 (Tf-A488) was injected into the hippocampus of mice. We evaluated the effect of 3-methyladenine (3-MA) on epilepsy behavior through observation in PTZ-kindled models. RESULTS: The methylated derivative of adenine, known as 3-MA, has been extensively utilized in the field of autophagy research. The transferrin protein is internalized from the extracellular environment into the intracellular space via the CME pathway. Tf-A488 uses a fluorescent marker to track CME. Western blot showed that the expression of Parkin was significantly increased in the PTZ-kindled model (p < 0.05), while 3-MA could reduce the expression (p < 0.05). The fluorescence uptake of MitoTracker and LysoTracker was increased in the primary cultured neurons induced by magnesium-free extracellular fluid (p < 0.05); the fluorescence uptake of Tf-A488 was significantly decreased in the 3-MA group compared with the control group (p < 0.05). Following hippocampal injection of Tf-A488, both the epilepsy group and the 3-MA group exhibited decreased fluorescence uptake, with a more pronounced effect observed in the 3-MA group. Inhibition of mitophagy by 3-MA from day 3 to day 9 progressively exacerbated seizure severity and shortened latency. SIGNIFICANCE: It is speculated that the aggravation of seizures by 3-MA may be related to the failure to remove damaged mitochondria in time and effectively after inhibiting mitochondrial autophagy, affecting the vesicle endocytosis function of CME and increasing the susceptibility to epilepsy. SUMMARY: Abnormal mitophagy was observed in a chronic pentylenetetrazol-induced seizure model and a Mg2+-free-induced spontaneous recurrent epileptiform discharge model. A fluorescent transferrin marker was utilized to track clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Using an autophagy inhibitor (3-methyladenine) on primary cultured neurons, we discovered that inhibition of autophagy led to a reduction in fluorescent transferrin uptake, while impairing clathrin-mediated endocytosis function mediated by mitophagy. Finally, we examined the effects of 3-methyladenine in an animal model of seizures showing that it exacerbated seizure severity. Ultimately, this study provides insights into potential mechanisms through which mitophagy regulates clathrin-mediated endocytosis in epilepsy.

PURPOSE: Cuproptosis, programmed cell death by intracellular copper-mediated lipoylated protein aggregation, is involved in various tumorigenesis and drug resistance abilities by mediating the tumor microenvironment. Previous studies have demonstrated that serum copper levels are higher in OC patients than in normal subjects. However, the exact relationship between cuproptosis and ovarian cancer progression remains to be further elucidated. METHODS: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and gene expression omnibus (GEO) datasets were utilized to establish a cuproptosis-related prognostic signature in ovarian cancer. Subsequently, the bulk RNA-seq analysis and single-cell RNA-seq analysis were used to identify the relationship between signature with immune cell infiltration, chemotherapy, and cuproptosis-related scoring (CuRS) system. Finally, the potential biological functional roles of target genes in cuproptosis were validated in vitro. RESULTS: By using LASSO-Cox regression analysis to establish the cuproptosis-related prognostic model, our works demonstrated the accuracy and efficiency of our model in the TCGA (583 OC patients) and GEO (260 OC patients) OC cohorts, and the high-scoring groups showed worse survival outcomes. Notably, there were substantial differences between the high and low-risk groups in extensive respects, such as the activating transcription factors, cell pseudotime features, cell intercommunication patterns, immunocytes infiltration, chemotherapy response, and potential drug resistance. KIF26B was selected to construct a prognostic model from the identified 33 prognosis-related genes, and high expression of KIF26B predicted poorer prognosis in ovarian cancer. Ultimately, further in vitro experiments demonstrated that KIF26B participated in the proliferation and cisplatin resistance of OC cells. Knockdown of KIF26B increased the sensitivity of OC cells to elesclomol, a cuproptosis agonists. CONCLUSION: This study constructed a new cuproptosis-related gene signature that has a good prognostic capacity in assessing the outcome of OC patients. This study enhances our understanding of cuproptosis associated with ovarian cancer aggressiveness, cross-talk with immunocytes, and serves as a novel chemotherapy strategy.

Background: Diabetes mellitus predisposes individuals to respiratory infections. The airway epithelial barrier provides defense against inhaled antigens and pathogens. Ezrin, is a component of the membrane-cytoskeleton that maintains the cellular morphology, intercellular adhesion, and barrier function of epithelial cells. This study aimed to explore the role of ezrin in airway epithelial barrier damage and correlate its expression and activation with diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study was performed in a murine model of diabetes mellitus and with human bronchial epithelial BEAS-2B cells using real-time PCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence staining. Ezrin was knocked down in BEAS-2B cells using siRNA. Ezrin phosphorylation levels were measured to determine activation status. The integrity of the airway epithelial barrier was assessed in vivo by characterizing morphological structure, and in vitro in BEAS-2B cells by measuring tight junction protein expression, transepithelial electrical resistance (TER) and permeability. Results: We demonstrated that ezrin expression levels were lower in the lung tissue and airway epithelium of diabetic mice than those in control mice. The morphological structure of the airway epithelium was altered in diabetic mice. High glucose levels downregulated the expression and distribution of ezrin and connexin 43, reduced the expression of tight junction proteins, and altered the epithelial barrier characteristics of BEAS-2B cells. Ezrin knockdown had effects similar to those of high glucose levels. Moreover, a specific inhibitor of ezrin Thr567 phosphorylation (NSC305787) inhibited epithelial barrier formation. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that ezrin expression and activation are associated with airway epithelial damage in diabetes mellitus. These findings provide new insights into the molecular pathogenesis of pulmonary infections in diabetes mellitus and may lead to novel therapeutic interventions for airway epithelial barrier damage.

The accurate determination of the free nicotine content in cigarette smoke is crucial for assessing cigarette quality, studying harm and addiction, and reducing tar levels. Currently, the determination of free nicotine in tobacco products primarily relies on methods such as pH calculation, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME), and traditional solvent extraction. However, these methods have limitations that restrict their widespread application. In this study, the free nicotine in cigarette smoke was directly extracted by using cyclohexane according to the traditional solvent extraction method and detected via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Compared with the traditional two-phase solvent extraction, our experimental method is easy to execute and eliminates the influence of aqueous solutions on the original distribution of nicotine in cigarette smoke particulate matter. Furthermore, the presence of protonated nicotine in tobacco does not affect the determination. Compared with HS-SPME and NMR spectroscopy, our approach, which involves solvent extraction followed by chromatographic separation and instrumental detection, offers simplicity, improved precision, better detection limits, and reduced interference during the instrumental detection stage. The standard addition recoveries in the conducted experiment ranged from 96.2% to 102.5%. The limit of detection was 2.8 µg/cig, and the correlation coefficient (R2) for the quadratic regression of the standard curve exceeded 0.999. The relative standard deviation for parallel samples was between 1.7% and 3.4% (n = 5), fully meeting the requirements for the determination of free nicotine in cigarette smoke. Analysis of cigarette samples from 38 commercially available brands revealed that the content of free nicotine ranged from 0.376 to 0.716 mg/cig, with an average of 0.540 mg/cig, and free nicotine accounted for 39.1%-88.8% of the total nicotine content.

γ-Glutamylation of beef protein hydrolysate (BPH) by L-glutaminase was carried out to improve the taste, as well as enhance the stimulating effect of gastrointestinal hormone (CCK and GLP-1) secretion and the anti-inflammatory property. Results of sensory evaluation showed that the kokumi taste, umaminess, saltiness of the γ-glutamylated product (γ-GBPH) were significantly higher (p < 0.05), whilst the bitterness was remarkably decreased (p < 0.05) than that of BPH. γ-GBPH had a better promoting effect (p < 0.05) on CCK and GLP-1 secretion and a higher inhibition (p < 0.05) on TNF-α and IL-8 production than BPH in vitro cell experiments. In γ-GBPH, 15 γ-Glutamylated amino acids (γ-[Glu](n =1/2)-AAs) and 10 γ-Glutamyl-tripeptide (γ-Glu-AA-AAs) were synthesized from the bitter amino acids and bitter peptides, respectively, and their total production yield was 140.01-170.46 mg/g and 149.06 mg/g, respectively. The synthesized γ-Glu-AA-AAs entered the binding pocket of the calcium-sensitive receptor (CaSR), and they all interacted with three reported amino acid residues (Ser147, Ala168, and Ser170) of CaSR.

The ever-growing requirement for electrochemical energy storage has exacerbated the production of spent batteries, and the recycling of valuable battery components has recently received a remarkable attention. Among all battery components, copper foil is widely utilized as a current collector for stable zinc platting and stripping in zinc metal batteries (ZMBs) due to the perfect lattice matching of between metal copper and zinc, which is accompanied by the formation of multiple copper-zinc alloy components during the cycling process. Herein, a novel "two birds with one-stone" strategy through a one simple heat treatment step to revive the discarded copper foil in zinc metal battery is reported to further obtain a lithiophilic current collector (CuxZny-Cu) with multiple copper-zinc alloy components on the surface of the discarded copper foil. Such revived CuxZny-Cu current collector greatly reduces the lithium nucleation overpotential and realizes uniform lithium deposition and further inhibits lithium dendrites growth. The formed multiple CuxZny alloy phases on the surface of discarded copper foil exhibit a low Li nucleation overpotential of only 15 mV at 0.5 mA cm-2 for the first cycle. Moreover, such a CuxZny-Cu current collector could achieve stable cycle for 220 cycles at 0.5 mA cm-2 and 110 cycles at 1 mA cm-2 with a Li plating capacity of 1 mAh cm-2. Theoretical calculations indicate that, compared with pure Cu foil, the formed multiple alloy components of CuZn5, CuZn8, Cu0.61Zn0.39 and CuZn have low adsorption energy of -2.17, -2.55, -2.16 and -2.35 eV with lithium atoms, respectively, which result in reduced lithium nucleation overpotential. The full cell composed of CuxZny alloy current collector with deposition of 5 mAh cm-2 metal Li anode coupled with LiFePO4 (LFP) cathode exhibits a reversible capacity of 125.6 mAh/g after 110 cycles at a current of 0.5 C with capacity retention of 85.1 %. This work proposed a promising strategy to regenerate the discarded copper foil in rechargeable batteries.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). Patients diagnosed with LARC and treated with programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitors were recruited. METHODS: Four different treatment strategies were employed in this study: plan A [long-course radiotherapy + PD-1 inhibitor/capecitabine + PD-1 inhibitor/XELOX+ total mesorectal excision (TME)], plan B (long-course radiotherapy + capecitabine + PD-1 inhibitor/XELOX + TME), plan C (short-course radiotherapy + PD-1 inhibitor/XELOX + TME), and plan D (PD-1 inhibitor/XELOX + short-course radiotherapy + TME). The basic information about patients, pathological indicators, adverse events, and efficacy indexes of treatment plans were analyzed. RESULTS: 96.8 % of patients were mismatch repair proficient (pMMR) and only 2 patients belonged to mismatch repair deficient (dMMR). The 2 patients with dMMR showed a pathological complete response (pCR) rate of 100 %, while the pCR rate of pMMR patients was 43.3 %. The overall tumor descending rate reached 79 %, and the anus-retained rate was 88.7 % in all LARC patients. Plan A exhibited the highest pCR rate of 60 %, and plan C had the highest tumor descending rate and anal preservation rate. Radiation enteritis was the most common adverse event in LARC patients after neoadjuvant therapy, and its incidence was the highest in Plan A. CONCLUSION: Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy combined with ICIs demonstrated favorable efficacy and safety in treating LARC patients.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a benign, self-limiting illness that can progress to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in approximately 30% of cases. Neurological injuries can occur in both diseases, albeit with distinct presentations. Venous sinus thrombosis is a serious cerebrovascular complication in patients with neuropsychiatric SLE but is rarely observed in patients with KFD. The involvement of various antibodies, particularly antiphospholipid antibodies, can cause vascular endothelial cell injury, resulting in focal cerebral ischemia and intracranial vascular embolism in SLE. However, there are cases in which thrombotic pathology occurs without antiphospholipid antibody positivity, attributed to vascular lesions. In this report, we present a case of KFD and lupus encephalopathy featuring cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, despite the patient being negative for antiphospholipid antibody. We also conducted a comparative analysis of C3 and C4 levels in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and peripheral blood, along with the protein ratio in CSF and serum, to elucidate the pathological changes and characteristics of lupus encephalopathy.

Bacterial infections impede the wound healing process and can trigger local or systemic inflammatory responses. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a dressing with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties to promote the healing of infected wounds. In this study, BA/COs/NO-PL/AL hydrogels were obtained by adding brevilin A (BA) camellia oil (CO) submicron emulsion and nitric oxide (NO) to hydrogels consisting of sodium alginate (AL) and Pluronic F127 (PL). The hydrogels were characterized through dynamic viscosity analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and rheology. They were evaluated through anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and wound healing property analyses. The results showed that BA/COs/NO-PL/AL hydrogels were thermo-responsive and had good ex vivo and in vivo anti-inflammatory activity, and they also exhibited strong antimicrobial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MRPA) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). They were able to effectively promote healing of the infected wound model and reduce inflammation and bacterial burden. H&E and Masson's staining showed that BA/COs/NO-PL/AL hydrogels promoted normal epithelial formation and collagen deposition. In conclusion, BA/COs/NO-PL/AL hydrogels are promising candidates for promoting the healing of infected wounds.

OBJECTIVE: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) manifests a critical aspect in the form of renal tubular injury. The current research aimed to determine the function and mechanism of long non-coding ribonucleic acid (LncRNA) differentiation antagonising non-protein coding RNA (DANCR), with a focus on its impact on renal tubular injury. METHODS: Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was employed to analyze the RNA levels of DANCR in the serum of patients with DN or human proximal tubular epithelial cells (human kidney 2 [HK2]). The diagnostic significance of DANCR was assessed using a receiver operating characteristic curve. A DN model was established by inducing HK-2 cells with high glucose (HG). Cell proliferation, apoptosis, and the levels of inflammatory factors, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and malondialdehyde (MDA) were detected using the Cell Counting Kit - 8, flow cytometry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The interaction between microRNA (miR)-214-5p and DANCR or Krüppel-like factor 5 (KLF5) was investigated using RNA immunoprecipitation and dual-luciferase reporter assays. RESULTS: Elevated levels of DANCR were observed in the serum of patients with DN and HG-inducted HK-2 cells (P < 0.05). DANCR levels effectively identified patients with DN from patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Silencing of DANCR protected against HG-induced tubular injury by restoring cell proliferation, inhibiting apoptosis, and reducing the secretion of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress production (P < 0.05). DANCR functions as a sponge for miR-214-5p, and the mitigation of DANCR silencing on HG-induced renal tubular injury was partially attenuated with reduced miR-214-5p (P < 0.05). Additionally, KLF5 was identified as the target of miR-214-5p. CONCLUSION: DANCR was identified as diagnostic potential for DN and the alleviation of renal tubular injury via the miR-214-5p/KLF5 axis, following DANCR silencing, introduces a novel perspective and approach to mitigating DN.

BACKGROUND: Disinfection byproducts (DBPs) have been shown to impair thyroid function in experimental models. However, epidemiological evidence is scarce. METHODS: This study included 1190 women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment from the Tongji Reproductive and Environmental (TREE) cohort from December 2018 to August 2021. Serum thyrotropin (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT3), and free thyroxine (FT4) were measured as indicators of thyroid function. FT4/FT3 and TSH/FT4 ratios were calculated as markers of thyroid hormone homeostasis. Dichloroacetic acid (DCAA) and trichloroacetic acid (TCAA), the two most abundant HAAs, in urine were detected to assess individual DBP exposures. RESULTS: After adjusting for relevant covariates, positive associations were observed between urinary TCAA concentrations and serum TSH and TSH/FT4 levels (e.g., percent change = 5.82 %, 95 % CI: 0.70 %, 11.21 % for TSH), whereas inverse associations were found for serum FT3 and FT4 (e.g., percent change = -1.29 %, 95 % CI: -2.49 %, -0.07 % for FT3). There also was a negative association between urinary DCAA concentration and serum FT4/FT3 (percent change = -2.49 %, 95 % CI: -4.71 %, -0.23 %). These associations were further confirmed in the restricted cubic spline and generalized additive models with linear or U-shaped dose-response relationships. CONCLUSION: Urinary HAAs were associated with altered thyroid hormone homeostasis among women undergoing ART treatment.

Purpose: As the most common subset of breast cancer (BC), estrogen receptor positive (ER+) BC accounting for 80% of cases, has become a global public health concern. The female hormone estrogen (E2) unequivocally drives ER + breast malignancies. The reasons that estrogen affects BC development has long been considered, yet further study remains to be conducted of the molecular events in the E2-estrogen receptor α (ERα) signaling pathway in ER + BC progression, especially lipid metabolism, so providing more options for tailored and individualized therapy. Our aim is to find out new targets and clinical biomarkers for ER + breast cancer treatment from the perspective of lipid metabolism. Methods: Lipid metabolomics profiling was used to examine the membrane phospholipid stimulated by E2. Clinical BC samples were used to assess the association of CYP4F2, CYP4F11 expression with clinicopathological characteristics and patient outcomes. Some inhibitors of main enzymes in AA metabolism were used combined with E2 to assess roles of CYP4F2/CYP4F11 in the progression of ER + BC. CYP4F2, CYP4F11 overexpression and knockdown BC cell lines were employed to examine the effects of CYP4F2, CYP4F11 on cellular proliferation, apoptosis and tumor growth. Western blotting, qPCR, Immunohistochemical staining and flow cytometry were also conducted to determine the underlying mechanisms related to CYP4F2, CYP4F11 function. Results: The activation of the CYP450 signaling pathway in arachidonic acid metabolism contributed to ER + BC tumorigenesis. In ER + BC, CYP4F2 and CYP4F11 overexpression induced by E2 could promote cancer cell proliferation and resistance to apoptosis by producing the metabolite 20-HETE and activating the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2. CYP4F2 and CYP4F11 elevation correlates with poorer overall survival and disease-free survival in ER + BC patients. Conclusion: CYP4F2, CYP4F11 and their metabolite 20-HETE could serve as effective prognostic markers and attractive therapeutic targets for novel anticancer drug development about ER + BC.

As an important bioactive molecular backbone, drimane meroterpenoids have drawn a great deal of attention from both pharmacologists and chemists. Inspired by the prevalidated success of conformational restriction in the discovery of novel pharmaceutical leads, two distinct tetracyclic drimane meroterpenoids, (-)-pelorol and (+)-aureol, were synthesized from the inexpensive starting material (-)-sclareol through 10 and 8 steps with 5.6% and 5.4% overall yield, respectively. The mild conditions, operational facility, and scalability enabled the expedient synthesis and biological exploration of not only natural products themselves but also their mimics. The first agrochemical exploration showed (-)-pelorol and (+)-aureol possessed good antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani, with EC50 values of 7.7 and 6.9 µM, respectively. This revealed that tetracyclic drimane meroterpenoids are valuable models for antifungal lead discovery.

BACKGROUND: Mobile health (mHealth) may be an ideal solution for breast cancer (BC) patients in China to access weight management interventions. User retention and engagement are the main challenges faced by mHealth applications. A user persona, which is a user-centered design process, can lead to the development of mHealth that is more acceptable to the needs of target users. This study aimed to investigate the variety of experiences in weight management and the behavioral preferences of BC patients receiving chemotherapy to develop users' personal information and persona development for the design and implementation of mHealth interventions. METHODS: Sixteen individual semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with BC patients receiving chemotherapy. We employed the thematic analysis method to analyze the interview transcripts in NVivo 11 software. The themes obtained from the analysis were used as the subdomains of personas. A proforma was designed to extract each participant's experience in each subdomain. Patients who exhibited similar experience in subdomains were grouped into a persona using affinity diagrams. The personas were named according to their prominent features. A questionnaire survey was conducted to validate the personas and to test whether the personas that were generated from the qualitative interview data were applicable to the Chinese population with BC. RESULTS: Four themes were identified as subdomains of weight management personas: the perception of weight management while undergoing chemotherapy, symptoms and emotional disturbance, changes in diet and exercise, and health literacy and information seeking. Five personas were ultimately obtained: (1) positive weight controllers, (2) patients who were inactive due to fatigue, (3) young patients who avoided communication, (4) overweight patients with treatment priority, and (5) patients who engaged in irregular exercise. Finally, the quantitative study showed that 51.58% of patients chose one of these five personas to represent themselves in weight management. None of the patient reported selecting options that were not explicitly outlined in the questionnaire and provided personalized descriptions of their weight management characteristics. CONCLUSIONS: The selected personas were developed from in-depth interviews on biopsychosocial areas. They highlight different weight management patterns in Chinese BC patients and provide implications for both the design of mHealth systems and traditional interventions.

As one of the important blue carbon pools in tropical and subtropical intertidal zones, mangroves are widely distributed along the coast of Guangxi in China. To deeply explore the variations of potential suitable habitats for mangroves in China under the background of climate change, based on remote sensing interpretation data of coastal wetlands in Guangxi, global marine environment and bioclimatic environment data in 2021, we constructed a maximum entropy habitat distribution model to simulate the spatial distribution of potential suitable areas for mangroves and the invasive species, Spartina alterniflora, along the coast of Guangxi, and predicted the patterns under extreme climate change scenarios (SSP5-8.5). The results showed that the interpreted area of mangrove forests along the coastline of Guangxi was 9136.7 hm2 in 2021, while the predicted area of potential suitable habitat area was 55955.9 hm2. Current distribution area of mangroves had basically covered its potential high suitability area and nearly 10% of the moderate suitability area. The current area of S. alterniflora was 1320.4 hm2, and the predicted area of potential high suitability area was twice of current area, indicating that there was still a large proportion of high suitability area that was not occupied by S. alterniflora. The most important environmental factors driving the distribution of potential habitats in mangroves were offshore Euclidean distance (62.2%), terrain deviation index (8.7%), average sea surface temperature in the hottest season (6.1%), and seabed terrain elevation (5.6%). The contribution of geographical conditions on mangrove distribution was predominant. Under the climate change scenario (SSP5-8.5), potential suitable area for mangroves would increase by 5.3%, while that for S. alterniflora would decrease by 3.1%. The overlapping proportion of the potential suitable area for mangroves and S. alterniflora was similar under current and SSP5-8.5 scenarios, being 15.2% and 14.5%, respectively. In the future, it is necessary to strengthen the protection and ecological restoration of mangroves along the coast of Guangxi and there is great challenge for preventing further invasion of S. alterniflora.

Composite coatings containing reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and 3-(aminopropyl)triethoxysilane functionalised rGO (APTES-rGO) were prepared by sol-gel technology and deposited on Al 2024 T-3. Covalent functionalisation of GO by APTES occurred by formation of amide bonds, accompanied by GO reduction. The thin sheets were retained. The hydrophilicity of the coating increased when APTES-rGO was added. The opposite was observed when GO was added. A key finding is that the rGO flakes agglomerate and lie in a random orientation in the coating, whereas the APTES-rGO flakes are more evenly distributed in the matrix and appear to lie along the plane of the substrate.

NiFe-(oxy)hydroxides are the most active transition metal oxide electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) under the alkaline media. Herein, we controllably manipulated oxygen vacancy (VO)-tunable NiFe-(oxy) hydroxides that their OER performances possessed a volcano-type relationship with VO concentration, positively-correlated with Ni3+/Ni2+ ratio. Theoretical simulations further unearthed the enhanced activation and dissociation of H2O by the inserting of VO. As a result, the optimal sample featuring the Ni3+/Ni2+ ratio of 30.3 % and VO of 23.8 % exhibited the overpotential of 243 mV at the current density of 100 mA cm-2, simultaneously lasting 120 h durability without any attenuation, exceding the most reported NiFe-(oxy)hydroxides. This work offers an innovative view to understand the OER performance using hypervalent Ni ratio induced by VO defects.
